Free CLOtC Membership, LOtC Mark or Mentoring when booking with Diverse School Travel

Diverse School Travel have partnered with CLOtC to offer every school, that books with them, free CLOtC Membership, LOtC Mark and Mentoring, reinforcing their commitment to supporting meaningful educational experiences beyond the classroom walls.

This project started in March 2025 and continues to be open.

20 free school memberships thanks to support from EVOLVE Advice

20 schools will receive a year’s free membership to the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC), thanks to generous funding provided by EVOLVE Advice.

This project opened in January 2025 and has now ended as all 20 memberships have been allocated.

50 free school memberships thanks to support from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter

In partnership with LOtC Quality Badge holder Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, we are giving away 50 free CLOtC memberships to any school or educational settings across the country.

This project opened in November 2024 and has now ended as all 50 memberships have been allocated.

Sponsored school membership in partnership with Hyundai’s Great British School Trip

As part of Hyundai’s The Great British School Trip (TGBST) programme, we are offering schools discounted CLOtC Membership.

Schools and educational settings that register with The Great British School Trip programme can apply for sponsored CLOtC school membership for £75 instead of the normal rate of £120.

This project is currently open.

Free CLOtC Membership in partnership with Canal & River Trust

Starting September 2023, in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, and supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, we are giving away 100 free CLOtC memberships to schools and educational settings that are located within 1km of a canal or waterway in England and Wales.

We have now offered 100 free CLOtC memberships to schools so are no longer accepting registrations for this project. This project will end March 2024. 

Waterways, Wildlife & Wellbeing

From December 2021 to March 2023, CLOtC and Canal & River Trust supported schools in the West Midlands to help their students connect with the natural environment, enhance their wellbeing, and embed learning beyond the classroom across the curriculum (LOtC).

This project was funded through the Green Recovery Challenge Fund (by Defra, Environmental Agency, Natural England and National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This project ran from December 2021 to March 2023. 

Learning Away

Between 2009 and 2015, Learning Away – a consortium of 18 organisations, lead by CLOtC, worked closely with over 60 primary, secondary and special schools in 13 partnerships across the UK, in order to enhance young people’s learning, achievement and wellbeing by developing, piloting and evaluating the impact of residential experiences as an integral part of the curriculum.
