Welcome to this support page for teachers and staff who are interested in offering inspiring and engaging learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) is the use of places other than the classroom for teaching and learning including in your setting’s grounds; visiting local places such as religious buildings, shops and natural spaces; and further afield on day visits to museums, heritage sites, theatres, field and adventure centres and residentials. It also includes experiences brought into school through visitors and events. LOtC helps your students to thrive and achieve. It opens their eyes to the world around them, improves engagement, enhances academic attainment and personal development, and supports their health and well-being, and spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs.
We are sharing three new resources with you to help you discover what you are already doing, consider how to start your LOtC journey and help you take your learning into your school grounds as a place to start.
Are you ready to develop your LOtC further?
