BBC Children in Need’s Tony Okotie Announced as Keynote Speaker for CLOtC National Conference 2025

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) is delighted to announce Tony Okotie, Director of Impact at BBC Children in Need, as a keynote speaker at this year’s National Conference, taking place in November. Tony will join Suzanne Carter, Executive Headteacher of Eastwood Community School, to headline what promises to be an inspiring and impactful programme.

Tony brings over 25 years of experience in the voluntary sector and currently leads the charity’s funding strategy, grant programmes, and teams across the UK. At BBC Children in Need, he oversees the investment of more than £35 million each year, supporting local organisations to help children and young people thrive.

Prior to his role at BBC Children in Need, Tony held CEO positions at Liverpool CVS and Community and Voluntary Action Tameside. He also holds a Master’s degree in Voluntary Sector Management and has extensive governance experience as a Non-Executive Director within the NHS and housing sectors, as well as serving as a Trustee.

Passionate about the power of communities, Tony is a strong advocate for the importance of sectors and organisations working together to ensure children and young people have the best possible opportunities to flourish.

The CLOtC National Conference 2025 – themed “Creating Connections, Engaging All, Enriching Lives” – is now just two months away. Over 100 schools from Yorkshire are already confirmed to attend, with a vibrant programme featuring more than 20 workshops, 28 exhibitors, and contributions from leading voices in education and the voluntary sector.

With only 50 tickets remaining, delegates are encouraged to secure their place soon for this flagship event in the learning outside the classroom calendar.

Tony Okotie’s keynote, alongside Suzanne Carter’s, promises to inspire and challenge attendees to think boldly about how communities, schools, and organisations can work together to enrich children’s lives through meaningful, transformative experiences beyond the classroom.
