Diverse School Travel and CLOtC Partner to Expand Learning Outside the Classroom

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Diverse School Travel to encourage more schools to embrace learning outside the classroom (LOtC). Through this collaboration, every school that books with Diverse School Travel will be offered free CLOtC membership, reinforcing their commitment to supporting meaningful educational experiences beyond the classroom walls.

In addition to the complimentary membership, schools will also have the option to receive free access to CLOtC’s Learning Beyond pathways: the LOtC Mark and Mentoring programme*. These programmes are designed to help schools embed and develop high-quality learning outside the classroom (LOtC) opportunities at their school and equip their staff with the tools and guidance to enhance student engagement, achievement, and well-being through LOtC.

 *Eligibility criteria applies.

“Diverse School Travel has been working with CLOtC now for many years, and as one of our most valued partners, we’re so excited about this new chapter,” says Hannah Truelove, Project Coordinator & Senior Travel Consultant at Diverse School Travel. “Learning outside of the classroom is at the heart of who we are as a company and really informs everything we do. We’re incredibly proud of the quality of our LOtC provision on school trips, and from our years of experience running fun and learning-oriented school trips, we recognise the long-term value of LOtC-informed experiences for both students and staff. We now want to further promote these same values within schools, to celebrate excellent school providers of LOtC and to enable even more schools to access the invaluable support and resources available as part of the CLOtC’s Mark scheme.”

We, the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, are a UK-leading charity dedicated to promoting and championing learning outside the classroom, advocating for its benefits in improving students’ educational and personal outcomes, and supporting schools/educational settings and providers of LOtC.

The Learning Beyond programmes aim to support schools and educational settings to audit what LOtC they currently offer, and develop plans and confidence to build on their LOtC, in-line with what is achievable for them. The LOtC Mark is also a nationally recognised award that highlights schools commitment in this field, while the Mentoring programme also provides in-depth tailored support.

“Learning outside the classroom is essential for a well-rounded education, and we are excited to work alongside Diverse School Travel to make these experiences more accessible,” said Dr Anne Hunt, CEO at CLOtC. “This partnership ensures schools receive not just high-quality travel experiences but also the support needed to embed LOtC into their everyday practice.”
