The Field Studies Council is awarded the LOtC Quality Badge for all of their sites

The Field Studies Council (FSC) has been awarded the LOtC Quality Badge for all of their sites, details of which you can find listed below. This fantastic achievement demonstrates the organisations commitment to ensuring they provide high quality learning outside the classroom experiences and manage risk effectively.

The Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity. Founded in 1943, the organisation has a long history of safe, enjoyable educational visits, creating outstanding outdoor learning opportunities for schools and colleges. They do this through:

  • Primary school visits offering first-hand adventures in nature, from day visits to first overnight stays and activity-packed residentials.
  • Secondary school and college courses tailored to specific curriculum requirements or syllabus, with relevant practical and fieldwork content.

Field Studies Council Education Manager, Jo Harris, said:

“We really value having the LOtC Quality Badge for all of our sites as it demonstrates not only the expertise of our teaching staff but also gives teachers confidence that they are booking a safe and high-quality visit.  We know from the schools who visit, that having reduced admin thanks to the award is also an added bonus!”

Because the award is endorsed by English and Welsh governments and the Outdoor Education Advisers Panel, most Local authorities accept it in place of some or all of their checks, so it reduces schools’ paperwork. For teachers, this makes organising and booking visits quicker and easier, saving time and resources. Providers that hold the LOtC Quality Badge will also provide pre and post visit communication and support to set objectives and ensure schools get the most out of their visit.
