LOtC Quality Badge Assessments through CLOtC

These are the types of assessments that CLOtC undertake directly. For further guidance email the LOtC Quality Badge team.

Site Only (Day)

Day visit providers not offering activities through themselves or a third-party or hiring any technical equipment e.g. parks, woods or museums. Must give guidance to groups about how to use your facilities and/or the local area for educational use.

Site Only (Residential)

Residential sites not delivering any activities through themselves or a third-party or hiring any technical equipment, e.g. hostels. Must give guidance to groups about
how to use your facilities and/or the local area for educational use.

Everyday Risk (Day)

Delivering day activities which fall within the scope of everyone’s experience e.g. at theatres, galleries, museums, historic sites, science centres, theme parks, zoos, places of worship, park/gardens, woodlands, allotments, city farms and some nature reserves and lower risk sports coaching.

Everyday Risk (Residential)

As every day risks day but with residential provision including night in the museum sleepover opportunities and temporary camping

Technical risk management – Nature Countryside and Farming

Day or residential visits needing technical competence to manage risk e.g. visits to working farms, fieldwork in higher risks locations, and using tools for bushcraft and conservation.

Technical risk management – Alternative Provision

Educational activity arranged by local authorities, schools or MATs for pupils who, due to exclusion, illness or other reasons, would not otherwise receive suitable education.

More Technical Risk – Sports Coaching

Some sports require additional specialised qualifications because of their inherent higher risk (for example, contact rugby, swimming, gymnastics, trampolining, strength and conditioning).

More Technical Risk – Other

Some providers do not fit in to any of the sectors above but offer activities requiring more technical risk management so require an onsite assessment. You will have been told to tick this assessment type if this applies to you.
