Why is the LOtC Quality Badge so important?
The LOtC Quality Badge is a national quality assurance scheme designed to help schools and educational settings identify organisations that have been independently assessed for both the quality of their educational provision and risk management. This assurance plays a vital role in keeping children and young people safe on educational visits.
We work with many well-known organisations—including Buckingham Palace, the Science Museum, Go Ape and YHA—alongside a wealth of local museums, faith centres, arts organisations and theatre groups. It is essential that we continue to reach providers of every type and size who engage with schools and community groups.
The Department for Education, Senedd Cymru and major teaching unions such as NEU and NASUWT all recommend looking for the LOtC Quality Badge when selecting external providers. The Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel also endorse the scheme, and most Educational Visits Advisers/ Outdoor Education Advisers accept the Quality Badge in place of some or all of their routine checks—reducing paperwork for everyone involved.
Who are EVOLVE Advice?
EVOLVE Advice are Educational Visits Advisers to over 4.500 schools and educational settings. Their advisers provide practical advice, training and guidance to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and increase high-quality opportunities. EVOLVE Advice supports EVCs and Visit Leaders to plan and deliver visits that are safe, impactful and fully compliant with national guidance and legislation.
Recognising the value of the LOtC Quality Badge, EVOLVE Advice encourage schools to look for providers who hold the badge, and advise organisations to work towards the award as a way of demonstrating high quality educational provision and risk management.
