This is a hands-on outdoor event that will support primary teachers in planning and teaching science lessons outdoors.
Attendees will…
- Explore how to plan and teach both disciplinary and substantive knowledge objectives outdoors.
- Look at how to assess and record science lessons that take place outdoors.
- Consider some of the practicalities of outdoor learning.
Attendees will leave with…
- A copy of ‘Teaching Primary Science Outdoors’
- Lots of ideas, and renewed confidence and enthusiasm to take science lessons outdoors!
Tea and coffee will be available, with sandwiches provided for lunch.
Most of this course will take place outdoors; please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather conditions.
This event is for: Primary school senior leaders, science subject leaders, class teachers.

About the Workshop Leader
Helen Spring CSciTeach is a Primary Science and Outdoor Learning Consultant, the author of ‘Teaching Primary Science Outdoors’, the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) Region Lead for the Northeast, a Primary Consultant for CLEAPSS, the Education Manager at Howsham Mill in North Yorkshire and a Focus4TAPS Facilitator.
