CLOtC Event: Understanding and Using Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs): A practical introduction for museums, heritage and cultural learning providers

Tuesday 9th March @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free – £45.00

Delivered by: Rachel Tranter, Director, GEM and Jenni Waugh, Cultural Engagement Consultant

The Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs) framework has helped museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations demonstrate the impact of their learning and engagement work for more than 20 years. But how can you use it effectively in practice to plan, evidence and evaluate your programmes?

Join Rachel Tranter, Director of GEM (Group for Education in Museums), and Jenni Waugh, cultural engagement consultant and member of GEM’s GLO review team, for this one-hour online interactive workshop exploring the practical application of the GLOs.

Designed particularly for providers working in the heritage, museum and cultural sectors, this session will introduce the refreshed GLO framework, including the new Sensory Learning Outcome, and showcase examples of how organisations are using the framework to demonstrate learning, wellbeing, engagement and social impact.

Please note: providers from all Learning Outside the Classroom sectors are welcome and may find the principles equally valuable but this session is primarily aimed at those in the museum, heritage and culture education sectors.

Drawing on her involvement in developing the original GLOs in 2003 and over two decades of experience evaluating cultural learning projects, Jenni will share practical insights and real-world examples from museums, heritage organisations, arts settings and community-based projects.

During the session, you will:

  • Gain an overview of the refreshed Generic Learning Outcomes framework
  • Explore the new Sensory GLO and its role in capturing learning experiences
  • Discover practical ways to embed GLOs into programme planning and evaluation
  • Have the opportunity to reflect  on how the GLOs can support audience development, inclusion and engagement

Whether you are new to the GLOs or looking to refresh your understanding, this workshop will provide practical ideas, inspiration and tools to help you better understand and communicate the difference your work makes.
