The wild is closer than you think
Natasha Kyle, Head of Education & Customer Liaison, Woburn Safari Park
The education team at Woburn Safari Park aim to offer an immersive experience for educational groups by linking the national curriculum with connecting visitors to nature.
The Parks also offers accessibility resources and works to facilitate the forging of a relationship between visitors and the amazing species who call the park their home.

An example of one of our most popular sessions, which is loved by all, is our African Adventure workshop. The workshop takes place in our outdoor classrooms overlooking the reserve or in the giraffe house during the months of November to February. Children take part in a range of interactive games and get hands on with our artifacts, including a real life giraffe skull and neck vertebrae!
This allows the children to understand the giraffe’s adaptations in an exciting and memorable way and also empowers teachers to take these games back to school to re-cap their learning with us. We tailor our workshops to suit the needs of each class but commonly covers key areas such as habitats, adaptations and food chains.
We have received outstanding feedback from teachers who return year after year with their classes!
The Park has also been improving its accessibility and has recently developed a variety of resources for teachers to download prior to their visit such as communication boards, a social script and BSL interpretation boards which can be used during our sessions. We also have a changing places toilet that has been installed in the Foot Safari.
A visit to Woburn Safari Park can inspire students to conserve wildlife through our engaging learning opportunities where we can also encourage positive behavioural changes and in-situ support for conservation projects.
Obtaining our LOtC Quality Badge this year is a very proud milestone for the Safari Park’s Education Team, we look forward to sharing our range of educational sessions with more schools.Natasha Kyle
