100 Free CLOtC Memberships Available for Schools Near Canals and Waterways

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) is offering 100 free memberships to schools and educational settings in England and Wales located within 1km of a canal or waterway.

This opportunity is made possible through a partnership with the Canal & River Trust and funding from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. The initiative aims to help more schools make the most of their local waterways by supporting learning beyond the classroom (LOtC).

Learning outside the classroom has been shown to significantly benefit pupils’ academic progress, confidence, and wellbeing. CLOtC membership provides staff with the tools, training, and inspiration they need to use local environments  – including canals and waterways – as powerful learning spaces.

“Thanks to the generous support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery and our partners at Canal & River Trust, we’re delighted to offer 100 free memberships to schools and educational settings near canals and waterways. Membership gives staff instant access to practical resources and training that build confidence and make it easier to take learning beyond the classroom - supporting health, wellbeing, and educational outcomes for all learners.”
