Framework for Planning Learning Outside the Classroom experiences
In organising any learning outside the classroom activity make sure that you place learning at the heart of it. Think about the organisation in terms of what you have to do before, during, and after the activity. Make sure the activity is embedded in learning and the curriculum as part of the process.
Use the Setting Learning Objectives and the Planning Learning Outside the Classroom experiences links to help you implement your goals and to organise in advance of the activity. Then, use the Practicalities section to ensure that you are doing all that is required to meet your employer’s requirements. As you do this, take note of who can help you and the information about the wide range of venues available; information about when these experiences are available can be found in the Where and When section. Most importantly, do not feel that you have to undertake this on your own. Make it a team effort, and make sure to draw on the expertise and knowledge of those around you.
Other considerations include respecting religious festivals, conventions, and requirements (See Factors to consider when visiting Sacred Spaces)for further information.
Be prepared to work with professionals in this field. Remember that the places you visit will be accustomed to receiving visitors and will know most about the opportunities as well as the potential pitfalls.
