A game of two halves

A Game of Two Halves, Notts County FC’s award winning health promotion project, has been making waves in the Nottinghamshire area.

A Game of Two Halves is an activity where Notts County staff visit schools to take pupils through a fun and informative two-hour session focusing on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Working with primary schools, the scheme for 5-11 year olds focuses on science, linking to healthy eating and physical activity. The project is led by Matt Lawson, who operates at Notts County as Communities Officer and Nutritionist to the first team players.

Originally forming part of Matt’s Master’s Degree in Nutrition, the project is now being rolled out to primary schools in the area. Matt says, “It is all about early intervention and through the message of Notts County promoting health to young people. This is the only way we can prevent disease in later life and halt the rise of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease”.
