A world outside the classroom; John Lyon Access to the Arts Fund

John Lyon’s Charity gives grants to groups and organisations for the benefit of children and young adults in Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and the City of London.

John Lyon’s Charity is committed to providing young people with the opportunity to access high quality, world class experiences. The Arts is an area of particular interest to the Charity, especially as the beneficial area is awash with some of the finest Arts institutions in the world. To address the growing difficulties faced by primary school teachers in taking their children outside the  classroom, the Access to the Arts Fund is designed to make this process easier and remove any practical barriers to engaging with these Arts institutions.

The Access to the Arts Fund is open to all primary schools in the Charity’s nine boroughs. Applications can be made by primary school teachers to take children on a visit to a museum, gallery, theatre or concert. There is no restriction on which institution you wish to visit, but the activity must enhance the current activities of the class or year group and be the kind of experience that the children do not normally have access to.
